ATF Announces Joint Reward for Information Leading to Arson Suspect

PHILADELPHIA – The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Sterling Apartment Homes management company, Aimco, have partnered and have announced a reward for information leading to the identification and arrest for those responsible for 6 small fires set inside a residential apartment building. ATF is offering a reward of up to $5,000, which will be matched by the building management company for a total reward of up to $10,000.

The ATF Arson Task Force, Philadelphia Police Department and the Philadelphia Fire Marshal’s Office are working jointly to identify the individual(s) responsible for the acts of arson at 1815 John F. Kennedy Boulevard, in Philadelphia. No injuries have been reported as a result from any of these fires and the fires were extinguished promptly through the use of the building’s sprinkler system.

The six fires occurred between July 13, 2017 and August 3, 2017 and were set in various locations on the fifth through ninth floors.

“The safety of the residents are of paramount concern and we will utilize every available resource in identifying and arresting this arsonist,” said ATF Philadelphia Field Division Special Agent in Charge Essam Rabadi.  “Acts of arson are dangerous crimes and threaten the community. ATF is committed to keeping the public safe from those who maliciously set fires.”
