PHILADELPHIA – The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and
Explosives (ATF) and the Sterling Apartment Homes management company, Aimco,
have partnered and have announced a reward for information leading to the
identification and arrest for those responsible for 6 small fires set inside a
residential apartment building. ATF is offering a reward of up to $5,000, which
will be matched by the building management company for a total reward of up to
$10,000.
The ATF Arson Task Force, Philadelphia Police Department and
the Philadelphia Fire Marshal’s Office are working jointly to identify the
individual(s) responsible for the acts of arson at 1815 John F. Kennedy
Boulevard, in Philadelphia. No injuries have been reported as a result from any
of these fires and the fires were extinguished promptly through the use of the
building’s sprinkler system.
The six fires occurred between July 13, 2017 and August 3,
2017 and were set in various locations on the fifth through ninth floors.
“The safety of the residents are of paramount concern and we
will utilize every available resource in identifying and arresting this
arsonist,” said ATF Philadelphia Field Division Special Agent in Charge Essam
Rabadi. “Acts of arson are dangerous
crimes and threaten the community. ATF is committed to keeping the public safe
from those who maliciously set fires.”
