U.S. Marshals Arrest Two Rape Suspects Within 48 Hours

Springfield and Dayton, OH - On August 23, 2016 the U.S. Marshal’s Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST) arrested Edgar Barrientos, age 66. The Clark County Sheriff’s Office issued an arrest warrant for Edgar Barrientos for several counts of rape and gross sexual imposition (GSI). U.S. Marshals SOFAST, along with Springfield Police officers arrested Barrientos on a Greyhound Bus in Trotwood, OH. Investigators believe that Barrientos initially fled the state when the warrant was issued. Barrientos was transported to the Clark County Jail.

Less than 48 hours later SOFAST arrested another rape suspect. On August 25, 2016, the U.S. Marshal’s Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team arrested Kendrick Robinson, age 24. The Dayton Police Department issued an arrest warrant for Kendrick Robinson for rape, aggravated assault and kidnapping. The charges stem from an incident that occurred earlier in August.

U.S. Marshals SOFAST, along with Dayton Police officers, acted quickly once the warrant was issued. Through the investigation, SOFAST developed information that Robinson was staying at an address on Burkhardt Avenue in Dayton. SOFAST went to the residence and located Robinson hiding inside. Robinson was arrested and transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

Through cooperative efforts such as SOFAST, dangerous fugitives who prey on other members of society will be brought to justice.

SOFAST is a multi-jurisdictional task force comprised of the U.S. Marshals Service, Ohio Adult Parole Authority, Dayton Police Department, Springfield Police Department, Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Miami County Sheriff’s Office, Grandview Hospital Police Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol, and the Springboro Police Department.
