Burlington, VT - The U.S. Marshals Service, Vermont Violent
Offender Task Force (VVOTF) arrested a Vermont fugitive wanted on two arrest
warrants, including a Violation of Parole.
Jason Douglas, 32, formally of St. Albans, Vermont was
arrested yesterday in Winooski when confronted by Deputy U.S. Marshals, members
of the VVOTF and the Winooski Police Department. Douglas was wanted by the
Franklin County Sheriff’s Department for Domestic Assault and unlawful
Mischief. Douglas was also wanted by the State of Vermont Department of
Corrections, Probation and Parole – St. Albans Division, for Violation of his
Parole. Douglas’ parole stemmed from convictions for the following:
- Kidnapping or Forcible Confinement
- 1st Degree Unlawful Restrain
- Felony Unlawful Trespass
- Hindering Arrest
- Felony Possession of Stolen Property
- Leaving the Scene of an Accident
- Cruelty to Animals
Douglas’ Franklin County Arrest Warrant was dated July 22,
2016 and the Parole Warrant was signed July 20, 2016.
On August 8, 2016 The State of Vermont Department of
Corrections, Probation and Parole sought the assistance of the U.S. Marshals in
locating and arresting Douglas, as his whereabouts were unknown.
Over the course of their investigation, the VVOTF developed
information on Douglas’ whereabouts and on August 23, 2016, the VVOTF located
and arrested Douglas in Winooski, Vermont.
In addition to the above arrest warrants, the South
Burlington Police Department was also seeking to arrest Douglas, charging him with
Aggravated Assault. The South Burlington Police Department listed a Wanted
Poster on their Facebook page, seeking the public’s help in the apprehension of
Douglas. This wanted poster also makes reference to a vehicle pursuit that
Douglas was involved in recently with the Essex Police Department. Douglas
escaped the hands of justice during the pursuit and remained wanted until
apprehended by the VVOTF.
Douglas was transported to the Chittenden Regional
Correctional Facility and lodged on the above listed arrest warrants. Douglas
was also issued a criminal citation by the South Burlington Police Department,
charging Douglas with Aggravated Assault. Douglas has a court date for this
citation of September 8, 2016. Any further inquiries regarding this matter
should be directed to Probation and Parole or the South Burlington Police
Department.
This arrest was a result of a culmination of investigative
efforts by the U.S. Marshals VVOTF and the Winooski Police Department.
