Information Sought Concerning Intentional Fires at Two Clinics

ATLANTA—Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Brian D. Lamkin, on behalf of the FBI-led Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) and the FBI Atlanta Civil Rights Squad, requests the public’s assistance in the following matter:

FBI Atlanta is seeking information regarding intentional fires set at two obstetrician/gynecologist (OB/GYN) offices. The first incident was early Saturday/Sunday morning on May 20, 2012 at a facility located on Pleasant Hill Road in Gwinnett County, Georgia. During this incident, the front window of the clinic was broken, setting off a security alarm, which was followed shortly by a fire alarm from within the building. The incident was determined by authorities to be an act of arson. Fire investigators did not discover any device; however, a K-9 alert indicated that an incendiary substance was present. Laboratory results are pending.

The second incident occurred during business hours in the morning of May 23, 2012 at Alpha Group GYN, Abortion Services and Counseling, located at 1640 Powers Ferry Road in Marietta, Georgia.

The Marietta fire occurred on the third floor of the facility. Witnesses described a black male, approximately 5’10”-6’1” tall, wearing a blue polo shirt with an emblem on the left chest and khaki pants seen in the vicinity talking on a smartphone. The witnesses described this individual’s vehicle as a gray Marquis (Mercury) with tinted windows and large chrome wheels. Authorities would like to talk to this individual as a potential witness, shown in the photos below, in the matter.

FBI Atlanta and local authorities are seeking any information related to the two arson-related incidents. It is requested that anyone with information contact the FBI Atlanta Field Office at tel. (404) 679-9000.
