Former Federal Prison Guard Pleads Guilty to Assault


United States Attorney Laura E. Duffy announced that today Brandon McKinney, a former Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) correctional officer, pled guilty before United States Magistrate Judge William V. Gallo to a superseding information charging him with assault within the special maritime and territorial jurisdiction of the United States, with the intent to commit another felony, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 113(a)(2). According to court documents and admissions during today’s hearing, McKinney admitted that on July 20, 2010, while on duty, he assaulted a female inmate at the MCC by engaging in a sexual act with her.

McKinney’s guilty plea is subject to final acceptance by United States District Judge Janis L. Sammartino. Sentencing is scheduled for August 10, 2012 at 9:00 a.m., before Judge Sammartino.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Justice-Office of Inspector General.
