Eastern Shoshone Man Sentenced for Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury


United States Attorney Christopher A. Crofts announced that Finn Grey Burnett, Jr., 25, of Fort Washakie, Wyoming, an enrolled member of the Eastern Shoshone Tribe, was sentenced by Federal District Court Judge Scott W. Skavdahl on May 10, 2012. The defendant pled guilty to assault resulting in serious bodily injury, in violation of 18 USC §§ 113(a)(6) and 1153, and was sentenced to time served, followed by two years of supervised release, the first six months of which are to be served at a community confinement center, for his role in an assault that took place on the Wind River Indian Reservation on August 5, 2011. The defendant was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $59,187.52. This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
