Man Arrested for Robbery of Wells Fargo Bank Branch in St. Paul

On April 5, 2011, at approximately , the Wells Fargo Bank branch located at
2145 Ford Parkway
in St. Paul, Minnesota, was robbed by a lone man. The robber came into the bank lobby and wrote a demand note on a bank deposit slip. He approached a teller window and handed the note to a bank teller. The robber was provided with an undisclosed amount of cash, which he put into a plastic Target bag. The robber then left the bank. No one was injured in the robbery.

The bank branch is located in the same building as a Lifetime Fitness gym. After viewing videotaped images of the robber, a Lifetime Fitness employee recognized the robber as a former member of Lifetime Fitness. The robber was subsequently identified as Michael Lewis Johnson, 54, of south Minneapolis. At approximately this morning, St. Paul and Minneapolis police officers and FBI agents executed a Hennepin County search warrant at Johnson's home. He was placed under arrest and is currently being held at the Ramsey County Jail in St. Paul.
