TAMPA, FL—U.S. Attorney Robert E. O'Neill announces that U.S. District Judge Susan C. Bucklew today sentenced Jonathan Laaten Worth (46, Tampa) to 180 months (15 years) in federal prison for robbery of the BB&T Bank located at 4144 North Armenia Avenue, Tampa, Florida. The court also ordered Worth to forfeit $3,331.00, the proceeds of the bank robbery, and to pay $3,335.00 in restitution to BB&T Bank.
Worth pled guilty to the bank robbery on January 7, 2011.
According to court documents, on July 26, 2010, Worth robbed the BB&T Bank of $3,331.00 by force, violence, and intimidation. The victim-teller identified Worth as the bank robber from a photo line-up. Worth was sentenced as a career offender based on his history of committing crimes of violence.
