Albuquerque, NM - Deputy United States Marshals returned from Mexico City with Jesus Joaquin Arredondo-Soto a suspect in the murder of a woman and her infant child, demonstrating that the long arm of the United States Marshals Service Southwest Investigative Fugitive Team (SWIFT) reaches to international hiding places.. He was retrieved by the United States Marshals Service under a federal crime-fighting initiative.
Jesus Joaquin Arredondo-Soto is wanted for his alleged involvement in killing 21-year-old Yuriko Santana-Hernandez and her one-year-old son Julian before lighting their home on fire in August of 2010. Through cooperation between The Albuquerque police Department, United States Marshals Service SWIFT task Force, the United States Marshals Service International Investigations Branch’s Attaché in Mexico City and the Mexican Government, Arredondo-Soto was located and detained in Mexico pending his extradition back to the United States.
United States Marshal Conrad Candelaria said “This extradition exemplifies the true capabilities of the United States Marshals Service’s ability to transcend even international boundaries in investigating and apprehending violent and dangerous fugitives.”
