Zucker Scams Investors, but he Can't Fool the U.S. Marshals

April 27, 2010 - Cleveland, OH – Wanted fugitive Dale Zucker, age 61, was arrested this afternoon at approximately 11:45 am (PST) in Union City, California. Zucker was wanted on a federal arrest warrant for failing to appear for his January 26th trial to face federal fraud charges. Zucker was released on bond by the federal courts following his arraignment on these charges and was living with family members in the south Florida area. Zucker was expected to return to Cleveland in January 2010 to begin his fraud trial.

Subsequently, he fled the state of Florida and unknowingly began a manhunt that would stretch across the United States. Deputy Marshals from the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force in Cleveland developed information that Zucker was temporarily in the Austin, Texas area and quickly elicited the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service in the Western District of Texas. After many interviews were conducted and many locations surveilled, Deputy Marshals in Texas determined that Zucker had once again fled. The investigation took another turn and it was believed that Zucker was actually hiding in the San Francisco area. The U.S. Marshals Northern California Fugitive Strike Task Force was brought into the equation and began its search for Zucker. Within the last few days, the Task Force set up on various locations in the Union City area and patiently waited for Zucker to surface. An individual fitting the description of Dale Zucker was spotted and followed to a Wal-Mart parking lot. A traffic stop was initiated by Deputy Marshals and Task Force Officers, and Zucker was in fact located inside the vehicle. At the time of his arrest Zucker had a fully loaded KelTec semi-automatic handgun in his possession. Zucker was taken into custody without incident and now is awaiting extradition back to Cleveland.

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated, “Outstanding work by our Deputy Marshals and Task Force Officers in Northern Ohio and across the nation tracking this fugitive from state to state. We look forward to bringing him back to Ohio to face his charges and bring justice to the victims in this case.”
