April 19, 2010 - Tucson, Ariz. – U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Willcox Border Patrol station seized nearly 970 pounds of marijuana over the weekend at the traffic checkpoints located on State Route 80 and State Route 90.
Canine teams assisted in three separate incidents that resulted in the discovery of the nearly 970 pounds of marijuana. By utilizing canine teams at checkpoints the Border Patrol is able to curb the flow of illegal drugs into the interior of the United States and enhance the quality of life in our communities nationwide.
Over the past six months agents from the Tucson Sector Border Patrol have seized more than half a million pounds of marijuana valued at more than $441 million.
