April 20, 2010 - Pharr, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers working at the Pharr International Bridge seized 31.3 pounds of methamphetamine this last weekend. The estimated street value of the seized drug is $469,579.
On April 18, a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck arrived at the Pharr/Reynosa International Bridge. After a primary inspection, the pickup truck and the driver were referred to secondary for further inspection. The male driver was identified as a 48-year-old Mexican citizen from Allende, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. In secondary, officers seized 17 methamphetamine packages that were found hidden in the Silverado pickup truck.
CBP officers seized the vehicle and the methamphetamine.
“Our frontline officers remain focused and vigilant and continue to intercept and prevent drug loads from entering our county,” said Hector A. Mancha, CBP port director, Hidalgo/Pharr and Anzalduas.
