April 22, 2010 - Brownsville, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection) officers at the Gateway International Bridge discovered cocaine valued at approximately $704,000 concealed within a Chrysler Grand Voyager.
On Wednesday, April 21, CBP officers encountered a 1999 Chrysler Grand Voyager driven by a 25-year-old male, Mexican citizen and resident of Queretaro, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. A CBP officer referred the driver and vehicle to secondary for further inspection. At secondary, CBP officers discovered hidden packages within the vehicle. CBP officers removed 16 packages of cocaine, with a total weight of 22 pounds, from the vehicle.
The cocaine from this seizure has an estimated street value of approximately $704,000. CBP officers turned the narcotics, driver and vehicle over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement special agents for further investigation.
“Brownsville CBP officers have stopped over $3 million worth of narcotics from entering our country in the past three days.
