SOUTH BEND –Carlos Maez, age 40, of Mishawaka, Indiana was
convicted of all counts, early evening on Wednesday, before District Court
Judge Jon E. DeGuilio, announced U.S. Attorney Kirsch.
The jury convicted Maez on one count of armed bank robbery,
one count of using a firearm during a crime of violence and one count of being
a felon in possession of a firearm.
According to records in the case, on October 16, 2015, Maez
robbed a bank located in South Bend using a firearm while having previous
felony convictions.
This case was investigated by the FBI with the assistance of
the South Bend Police Department. This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States
Attorney Molly E. Donnelly and Frank E. Schaffer.
