JACKSON, MS—The FBI Safe Streets Task Force arrested Thomas
Earl Armstrong, 41, and Demarkes Kwamane Williams, 28, both of Moss Point,
Mississippi on charges of Conspiracy and Possession With Intent to Distribute a
Controlled Substance – Crack Cocaine on May 7, 2018.
If convicted, Armstrong and Williams face sentences of not
more than 20 years in a federal penitentiary and a fine of up to $1 million.
Armstrong and Williams were ordered to be detained pending
trial by United States Magistrate Robert H. Walker, United States District
Court for the Southern District of Mississippi in Gulfport on May 11, 2018.
Trial is set for August 6, 2018.
The FBI Safe Streets Task Force is a Gulf Coast High
Intensity Drug Trafficking Area initiative and receives funding from the Office
of National Drug Control Policy in Washington, D.C. It is made up of Special
Agents from the FBI and law enforcement officers from the Pascagoula, Moss Point,
Gautier and Ocean Springs Police Departments, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office
and U.S. Border Patrol. The South Mississippi Metropolitan Enforcement Team in
Pascagoula, assisted with the investigation.
These charges are merely an accusation, and defendants are
presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of
law.
