The FBI Cleveland Division, Toledo
Resident Agency, the FBI Detroit Division, and the United States Attorney’s
Office, Northern District of Ohio, announce the arrest of Alfonso Zasueta
(Zasueta) and Jesus Manuel Calderon Zazueta (Calderon) for drug conspiracy to
possess with the intent to distribute and distribution of fentanyl.
Information obtained by the Toledo
Metro Drug Task Force on May 4, 2018, identified a Mexican male residing in
Detroit, Michigan supplying large quantities of fentanyl and cocaine for
distribution in the Toledo, Ohio area. The unknown male was later identified as
Jesus Manuel Calderon Zazueta.
Throughout the 10 day
investigation, positive field tests were obtained on suspected cocaine and
fentanyl provided by Calderon and Zasueta.
On May 14, 2018, Calderon and
Zasueta were placed into custody without incident in the Toledo, Ohio area.
Approximately 280 grams of fentanyl was seized upon their arrest.
Pursuant to the arrest, law
enforcement activity was also conducted in the Detroit, Michigan area resulting
in additional fentanyl and cocaine being placed into evidence.
Initial appearances were held
Tuesday, May 15, 2018, for Calderon and Zasueta, both remain in custody. A
complaint is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. The defendant is
entitled to a fair trial in which it will be the government’s burden to prove
guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
This continues to be an ongoing
investigation.
This investigation is being
conducted by the Toledo Metro Drug Task Force, Toledo FBI Safe Streets Task
Force, and FBI Detroit.
