Concord, NH - This past Friday, “Fugitive of the
Week,” Vincente Perez, 55, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task
Force and the Epsom Police Department during a vehicle stop just outside of the
Epsom traffic circle. Perez had been wanted on outstanding arrest warrants from
both the NH Parole Board and the Northwood Police Department. The NH Parole
Board wanted Perez on parole violations, stemming from his original conviction
and sentence for narcotics offenses. The Northwood Police Department was
seeking Perez on charges of disobeying an officer, as well as a subsequent
driving after suspension charge after he fled from officers in a vehicle, which
was later crashed and abandoned.
As part of the U.S. Marshals fugitive investigation, Perez
had been featured as the “Fugitive of the Week” on April 17th. The “Fugitive of
the Week” was aired on WTPL-FM, WMUR-TV, The Union Leader, The Nashua
Telegraph, The Patch, Foster’s Daily Democrat, Manchester Information, The
Manchester Ink Link and prominently featured on the internet. The “Fugitive of
the Week” has been a very successful tool that has resulted in the location and
arrest of numerous fugitives since its implementation in 2007. Additionally,
the “Fugitive of the Week” is distributed statewide to all law enforcement
officers.
Once again, it was a combination of numerous tipsters and
good old-fashioned police work that led to the safe arrest of Perez during a
vehicle stop on Route 4 in Epsom, late Friday afternoon. This arrest was made
through the cooperative efforts of several members of the US Marshals Fugitive
Task Force, including; the Epsom & Northwood Police Departments, the
Belknap & Strafford County Sheriff’s Offices, along with deputy US
Marshals. “This was a team of dedicated professionals that worked together to
safely take Mr. Perez off the street and we cannot thank our law enforcement
partners enough for their continuing support!”
Perez was transported to the Northwood Police Department on
his outstanding warrants for processing and holding pending his initial court
appearance. After this process, Perez will be returned to the NH State Prison
to serve additional time for his parole violations.
Since the inception of the New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task
Force in 2002, these partnerships have resulted in over 6,806 arrests (Updated
as of 5/25/2017). These arrests have ranged in seriousness from murder,
assault, unregistered sex offenders, probation and parole violations and
numerous other serious offenses. Nationally the United States Marshals Service
fugitive programs are carried out with local law enforcement in 94 district
offices, 85 local fugitive task forces, 7 regional task forces, as well as a
growing network of offices in foreign countries.
