Orlando, Florida – U.S. District Judge Paul G. Byron today
sentenced Jesse B. Ingram, Jr. (35, Apopka) to 15 years and 5 months in federal
prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm, attempting to possess with
the intent to distribute a controlled substance, and possessing a firearm in
furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. He pleaded guilty on March 29, 2017.
According to court documents, Ingram possessed a firearm
while attempting to distribute a substance that he believed was heroin. As a
previously convicted felon, he is prohibited from carrying a firearm or
ammunition under federal law.
This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol,
Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, and the
Apopka Police Department. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney
Sean P. Shecter.
This is another case prosecuted as a part of the Department
of Justice’s “Project Safe Neighborhoods” Program - a nationwide, gun-violence
reduction strategy. Acting United States Attorney W. Stephen Muldrow, along
with Daryl R. McCrary, Special Agent in Charge, ATF, is coordinating the
Project Safe Neighborhoods effort here in the Middle District of Florida in
cooperation with federal, state, and local law enforcement officials.
