Albuquesque, NM - Deputy U.S. Marshals assigned to the U.S.
Marshals Service South West Investigative Fugitive Team (SWIFT) Task Force
arrested fugitives Damon Hatanaka and Kenneth Alcon. Both fugitives were
featured on the U.S. Marshals New Mexico Most Wanted Program.
Both fugitives were also wanted for allegedly committing
violent felonies. Alcon was wanted by the Bloomfield Police Department for a
felony warrant of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon while Hatanaka was
wanted by Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office Aggravated Assault with a Deadly
Weapon.
Alcon was tracked down across multiple local jurisdictions
and safely apprehended on Sanchez rd in Bloomfield, NM while Hatanaka was
apprehended on Gun Club Rd. in southwest Albuquerque, NM. The SWIFT Task Force
officers involved in the fugitive investigation and arrest represent the
Bloomfield Police Department, the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, the New
Mexico State Police, ICE, and the U.S. Marshal’s Office.
United States Marshal Conrad E. Candelaria said, “with no
coincidence, Deputy U.S. Marshals and Task Force Officers partnered from
various agencies and across several jurisdictions to pursue two dangerous and
violent fugitives. The arrests of both was a culmination of many hours or
surveillance, intelligence sources and exhaustive grass-root police work that
led to the apprehension of both fugitives, which in no small measure our New
Mexico communities are much safer with both of them incarcerated”.
