OKLAHOMA CITY – The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and
Explosives (ATF) Dallas Field Division is offering a $2,500.00 reward, combined
with an additional $2,500.00 offered by the National Sports Shooting Foundation
(NSSF), for a total reward of up to $5,000.00 for information leading to the
arrest and conviction of those responsible for the burglary and theft of
firearms from Dick’s Sporting Goods at 14200 N. Pennsylvania Ave.
About 20 long guns were stolen by three masked, unknown
suspects in the early morning hours of Jan. 21.
“We hope someone knows what happened and will come forward
before the stolen firearms are used in future crimes,” said ATF Dallas Field
Division Special Agent in Charge William Temple. “Having these firearms in the
hands of criminals is a serious safety concern for the community and law
enforcement.”
Stealing firearms from a federally licensed dealer and
possessing stolen firearms are federal crimes punishable by up to 10 years in
prison.
This reward is part of a larger national cooperative
initiative between the NSSF, the trade association for the firearms industry,
and ATF in which NSSF matches ATF’s reward in cases involving the theft of
firearms from federally licensed firearms retailers.
