Pine Ridge Man Convicted of Two Counts of Aggravated Sexual Abuse of a Child

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Gillman Roddy Long, a/k/a Dave Gillman Long, age 45, of Pine Ridge, was convicted of two counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child as a result of a federal jury trial in Rapid City. Each charge carries a mandatory minimum penalty of 30 years of imprisonment and/or a $250,000 fine.

Long was indicted by a federal grand jury for three counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child on July 21, 2009. The charges stem from Long engaging in or attempting to engage in, a sexual act with a child who had not attained the age of 16. These acts occurred between January and March of 2008.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Sarah B. Collins and Britt M. Haxton. A presentence investigation was ordered, and a sentencing date was set for September 30, 2011. The defendant was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal.
