CBP Officers at the Hidalgo International Bridge Seize Methamphetamine

Hidalgo, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers working at the Hidalgo/Reynosa International Bridge seized approximately 26 pounds of alleged methamphetamine Thursday evening. The estimated street value of the methamphetamine is $390,214.

On June 2, CBP officers working at the Hidalgo International Bridge came in contact with a northbound 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis sedan and its driver, a 48-year-old U.S. citizen from Mission, Texas. After the initial primary inspection, a CBP officer referred the driver and vehicle to secondary for further inspection. In secondary, officers seized 22 packages of alleged methamphetamine that were found hidden within the vehicle’s dashboard area. CBP officers also seized the Grand Marquis sedan.

The male traveler was transferred to the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement –Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) for further investigation.

Efrain Solis Jr., CBP Acting Port Director, Hidalgo/Pharr said, “Our frontline officers continue doing great enforcement work and continue seizing significant amounts of hard narcotics.” Solis further said, “I commend our officers for a job well done.”
