Brownsville, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at Veteran’s International Bridge on Sunday discovered heroin valued at approximately $1,260,000 concealed within a Chevrolet Suburban driven by a U.S. citizen.
On Sunday, April 3, CBP officers at the Veteran’s International Bridge encountered a white 1999 Chevrolet Suburban being driven into the U.S. by a lone female. The driver, identified as a 36-year-old female U.S. citizen who resides in Dunn, North Carolina, was referred to secondary for further inspection where CBP officers discovered four packages hidden within the Chevrolet Suburban. The four packages contained approximately 5.73 kilograms (12.6 pounds) of alleged heroin.
The alleged heroin from this seizure has an estimated street value of approximately $1,260,000. CBP officers turned the woman over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation. CBP officers seized the narcotics and the vehicle.
“This is a great seizure by our CBP officers at the Brownsville port of entry. These dangerous narcotics will not get into the country, thanks to the hard work done by our frontline officers. I congratulate our officers for this exceptional seizure and arrest,” said Michael Freeman, CBP port director, Brownsville.
