CBP Arrests Felon Wanted in NYC

Antiguan Authorities Escort Him to Puerto Rico

San Juan, Puerto Rico – A felon wanted by New York City authorities was arrested yesterday by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at the Luis Munoz Marin International Airport, arriving escorted by Antiguan authorities.

Ramon A. Henriquez, 30, a New York City resident, was denied entry into Barbados after presenting for inspection a U.S. passport bearing a substituted picture, and returned to Antigua.

Antiguan authorities escorted Mr. Henriquez to San Juan turning him over to CBP.

CBP officers queried his fingerprints to the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database, revealing two outstanding warrants issued by the New York City Police Department; one for robbery charges from New York Police Department and one for Parole Violation from the Albany Division of Parole.

Mr. Henriquez, born in the Dominican Republic, is a naturalized U.S. citizen.

Custody of the defendant was turned to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for extradition proceedings.

“CBP works with our regional neighbors to identify dangerous individuals who try to move freely, trying to elude detection,” said Marcelino Borges, director of Field Operations for Puerto Rico and the United States Virgin Islands.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
