Suspect Facing 1st Degree Murder Charge Captured
San Antonio, TX – Jose Aguirre, 24, was arrested last night
by members of the United States Marshals Service Lone Star Fugitive Task Force
(LSFTF) in San Antonio, TX. An arrest warrant was issued pursuant to an
investigation by the Mount Dora Police Department (MDPD) in Florida, where it
is alleged that Aguirre committed 1st degree murder.
Last night, members of the LSFTF were contacted by members
of the Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force (FRFTF) to assist in searching for
Aguirre in San Antonio. Members of the LSFTF immediately initiated an
investigation in locating and apprehending Aguirre. Through investigative
efforts, task force officers determined that Aguirre was hiding out in a house
located in the 800 block of Bernard Drive, on the south side of San Antonio.
Task force officers entered the house, identified themselves, made contact with
Aguirre, and took him into custody without incident.
On June 6, 2015, Aguirre was allegedly involved in shooting
and killing a man in the parking lot of a nightclub in Mount Dora, FL. Reports
stated that police responded to the nightclub just before 2:00 a.m. to assist
with a disturbance and crowd control. While on scene, officers heard gunshots
coming from the nightclub’s parking lot. Officers found the victim on the
ground in critical condition and had him rushed to the hospital. He later died
as a result of his injuries. Witnesses observed Aguirre leaving the nightclub’s
parking lot at a high rate of speed in a dark sedan. Following the
investigation, a warrant was issued for Aguirre’s arrest.
Aguirre is currently being held in custody at the Bexar
County Sheriff’s Office awaiting extradition to Lake County, FL.
Robert R. Almonte, United States Marshal for the Western
District of Texas, states, “Thanks to the immediate and thorough investigative
efforts of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, Florida Regional Fugitive Task
Force, and the Mount Dora Police Department, another man hunt comes to an end
