Harrisburg, PA – Today, U.S. Marshal Martin Pane announced
the arrest of Andre Marcellus Jones, 24, wanted for Indecent Assault of a
Minor.
On March, 10, 2015, the York City Police Department obtained
an arrest warrant charging Jones with indecent assault of person less than 13
years of age and corruption of minors - defendant age 18 or older. The alleged
crimes occurred over a 20-month period from February 2013 through September
2014.
On March 20, 2015, the York City Police Department requested
the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Fugitive Task Force to
locate and apprehend Jones. On the same day, Deputy U.S. Marshals and task force
officers located Jones in the 600 block of East Market Street, York, PA, where
he was arrested without incident. Jones was transported to the York County Jail
pending judicial proceedings in the case.
United States Marshal Pane stated, “The U.S. Marshals
Service recognizes the importance of bringing those charged with serious sex
crimes to justice as quickly as possible. We give these type cases our utmost
attention. It is my hope that the young victim and family members will find
comfort knowing the alleged attacker is now in custody.”
The USMS worked jointly in this fugitive investigation with
officers from the York County Sheriff’s Department, the York County District
Attorney’s Office and the Spring Garden Township Police Department.
