A bank robbery occurred at approximately
10:10 a.m. today at the Inland Bank and Trust branch located at 539 South
Spring Road in Elmhurst. A lone male approached a teller and presented a note
demanding cash. The note indicated that the robber had a gun, but one not was
displayed during the robbery. After he was given an undisclosed amount of cash,
the robber fled the bank on foot. No injuries were reported in connection with
the robbery.
The robber, who is also suspected of
robbing a Chase Bank branch in Bensonville on April 2, 2012, was described by
witnesses as being a white male, 40-45 years of age, approximately 6’0” tall,
with short dark hair. He was similarly dressed for both robberies, wearing a
dark sweatshirt, dark windbreaker-type pants, and sunglasses.
