Marcus Jones, 23, of Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania, was charged today by indictment with one count of robbery which
interferes with interstate commerce and with one count of using and carrying a
firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, announced United States
Attorney Zane David Memeger. The indictment alleges that on March 22, 2012,
Jones committed a gunpoint robbery at Aya’s Pizza, located at 7144 Elmwood
Avenue, Philadelphia.
If convicted, the defendant faces a
total maximum sentence of life imprisonment, plus a mandatory minimum
consecutive sentence of seven years’ imprisonment, a $500,000 fine, five years
of supervised release, and a $200 special assessment.
The case was investigated by the Federal
Bureau of Investigation and the Philadelphia Police Department and is being
prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney John S. Ghose.
