Muskogee Man Sentenced for Brandishing a Firearm in Furtherance of a Crime of Violence

MUSKOGEE, OK—The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, announced today that ERIC ANDERSON, age 20, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, was sentenced to 84 months’ imprisonment for brandishing and possessing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 924(c)(1)(A)(ii).

Charges arose from an investigation by the Muskogee Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The defendant was indicted in July, 2011and pled guilty in August, 2011.

The indictment alleged that on or about May 19, 2011, ANDERSON, knowingly brandished and possessed a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.

The Honorable James H. Payne, District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee, presided over today’s hearing. ANDERSON remains in the custody of the United States Marshals Service pending transportation to the designated federal prison at which he will serve his nonparolable sentence.

Assistant United States Attorney Shannon Henson represented the United States.
