BUFFALO, NY–U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. announced today that a federal grand jury in Buffalo has returned a 10-count indictment charging Earl Moss, 27, of Buffalo, New York, with bank robbery, bank larceny, and brandishing a handgun during a crime of violence. The charges carry a mandatory minimum seven years in prison, a maximum of life plus 65 years, a fine of $1,000,000, or both.
Assistant U.S. Attorney John E. Rogowski, who is handling the case, stated that according to the indictment, in April 2010, the defendant robbed a Citizens Bank on Sheridan Drive in Amherst, N.Y. and another Citizens location on Elmwood Avenue in Buffalo, N.Y. The indictment further alleges that in April 2011, Moss once again robbed the Citizens Bank location on Elmwood Avenue. According to the indictment, approximately $29,400 in cash was taken during the robberies.
The indictment is the result of an investigation by special agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Christopher M. Piehota; the Buffalo Police Department under the direction of Commissioner Daniel Derenda; and the Amherst Police Department, under the direction of Chief John Askey.
