Federal Charges for Harassing Telephone Calls in Interstate Communication


SAN JUAN, PR—Special Agent in Charge Douglas A. Leff, of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) San Juan Field Office, announced the arrest of Elimar Chardon Sierra.

On February 21, 2019, a criminal complaint charged Chardon Sierra, age 32, from San Juan Puerto Rico, with violating Title 47, United States Code, Section 223 (a)(1)(E) for making Harassing Telephone Calls in Interstate Communication.

If convicted, Chardon Sierra faces a maximum term of imprisonment of two years.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) Alexander L. Alum and is being investigated by the FBI.

The public is reminded that criminal complaints and indictments contain only charges and are not evidence of guilt. Defendants are presumed to be innocent until and unless proven guilty.
