KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – On February 11, 2019, a complaint was
filed in U.S. District Court charging Joshua A. Baird, 35, of Seymour,
Tennessee, with robbery of the Tennessee Connect Credit Bureau in Seymour,
Tennessee, on the morning of February 11, 2019.
Baird appeared in federal court on February 12, 2019, and a
detention hearing was set for 1:30 p.m. on February 14, 2019. This case has not yet been set for trial.
If convicted of bank robbery, Baird faces up to 20 years in
prison, up to three years of supervised release, a fine of up to $250,000, any
applicable forfeiture, and a $100 special assessment.
The investigation and seizure of evidence was conducted by
the Knoxville Division of the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, which is comprised
of law enforcement officers from the Knoxville Police Department and Knox
County Sheriff’s Office, as well as agents from the FBI. The Sevier County Sheriff’s office also
assisted with the investigation and capture of the suspect. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brent N. Jones will
represent the United States in court proceedings.
Members of the public are reminded that a complaint
constitutes only charges and that every person is presumed innocent until his
or her guilt has been proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
