CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA – Oneil Wayne South, of Fairmont,
West Virginia, has admitted to fleeing from law enforcement, U.S. Attorney Bill
Powell announced.
South, age 45, pled guilty to one count of “Reckless Flight
from a Law Enforcement Officer.” South admitted to fleeing from law enforcement
after being asked to stop when on the property of the FBI Criminal Justice
Information Services Division in Harrison County in March 2019.
South faces up to five years incarceration and a fine of up
to $2,000. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed
will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal
history, if any, of the defendant.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew R. Cogar is prosecuting the
case on behalf of the government. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and
Explosives, the FBI, and the Fairmont Police Department investigated.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael John Aloi presided.
