Shappert for the District of the Virgin Islands announced today that Courtney
Matthias pleaded guilty to transporting an illegal alien. Matthias will be
sentenced at a later date.
According to court documents filed in the case, on October
1, 2019, Matthias transported an illegal alien in his vehicle to the ferry terminal
in St. John. In addition, Matthias purchased a ferry ticket for the alien and
traveled to St. Thomas with the alien.
This case is being investigated by Homeland Security
Investigations, and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney
Adam Sleeper.
