A Toledo man was arrested January 23, 2020 for sex trafficking
two juveniles in Toledo, Ohio.
Tyrone Cannon, aka “Bama,” 24, was indicted January 8, 2020
on two counts of Sex Trafficking of Minors between April and May. One count charges sex trafficking of a
17-year old female juvenile, while the other count charges sex trafficking of a
16-year old female juvenile.
If convicted, the defendant faces a mandatory minimum
sentence of 10 years on each count and designation as a sex offender. The sentence will be determined by the Court
after review of factors unique to this case, including the defendant’s prior
criminal record, if any, the defendant’s role in the offense and the
characteristics of the violation. In all
cases, the sentence will not exceed the statutory maximum and in most cases it
will be less than the maximum.
The investigation of this matter was conducted by the
Federal Bureau of Investigation, Toledo Police Department, and the Northwest
Ohio Human Trafficking and Child Exploitation Task Force. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant
U.S. Attorneys Tracey Ballard Tangeman and Ranya Elzein.
An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of
guilt. A defendant is entitled to a fair
trial in which it will be the government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a
reasonable doubt.
