GREAT FALLS – A Box Elder woman today admitted she stabbed a
man in the hand and chest with a butterfly knife on the Rocky Boy’s Reservation
last year, U.S. Attorney Kurt Alme said.
Katie Lynn Big Bow, 44, pleaded guilty to assault of a
dating partner. Big Bow faces a maximum five years in prison, a $250,000 fine
and three years of supervised release.
U.S. District Judge Brian M. Morris presided and set
sentencing for May 7. Big Bow was detained pending further proceedings.
The prosecution said in court records that the assault
occurred on May 2, 2019 when Big Bow stabbed the victim with a butterfly knife
in the left hand and upper chest at his house in Box Elder. The victim was
transported to the Northern Montana Hospital for treatment. Big Bow and the victim
are in a relationship.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Paulette Stewart is prosecuting the
case, which was investigated by the FBI and Rocky Boy’s Chippewa Cree Law
Enforcement.
