HARRISBURG—The United States Attorney’s Office for the
Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that Maria Lyter, age 60, of
Hummelstown, Pennsylvania, was sentenced on May 20, 2019, by Chief United
States District Court Judge Christopher C. Conner to four months’ imprisonment
to be followed by three years of supervised release for bank embezzlement.
According to United States Attorney David J. Freed, Lyter
admitted to embezzling approximately $8,300 from the Hummelstown bank while
employed at that bank in March 2016.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of
Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorneys
Carlo D. Marchioli and Joseph J. Terz prosecuted the case.
