PITTSBURGH – A Beaver County resident of New Brighton,
Pennsylvania has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on charges
of violating federal narcotics laws, United States Attorney Scott W. Brady
announced today.
The one-count Indictment, returned yesterday, names Terrance
Shelby, 34, of New Brighton as the defendant. According to the Indictment, on
February 18, 2019, Shelby possessed with intent to distribute a quantity of
heroin.
If convicted, the law provides for a maximum total sentence
of not more than 20 years in prison, a fine of up to $1,000,000 or both. Under
the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based
upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history, if any, of
the defendant.
Assistant United States Attorney Rebecca L. Silinski is
prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation and Center Township
Police Department conducted the investigation leading to the Indictment in this
case.
An indictment is an accusation. A defendant is presumed
innocent unless and until proven guilty.
