COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa - United States Attorney Marc Krickbaum
announced on April 3, 2019, Salvatore Lawrence Bruno, age 68, was sentenced by
United States District Court Judge Rebecca Goodgame Ebinger for Possession of
Child Pornography. Bruno was sentenced to 97 months in prison to be followed by
a term of supervised release for ten years. Bruno was ordered to pay $500 to
each victim seeking restitution.
In January 2018, Council Bluffs Police received a referral
from the Iowa Department of Human Services involving a child stating she was
shown child pornography by the defendant. A search warrant was obtained for
Bruno’s residence. Officers located a computer hard drive and memory card that
contained over 5,700 images of child pornography. Bruno pleaded guilty to this
charge in November 2018.
This matter was investigated by the Council Bluffs Police
Department, Iowa Department of Human Services, Project Harmony and the Federal
Bureau of Investigation. The case was prosecuted by the United States
Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
