HAMMOND – Stacy Newlin, 57 years old, of Merrillville,
Indiana, was sentenced by District Court Judge Philip P. Simon after he pled
guilty to possession and receipt of child pornography, announced U.S. Attorney
Kirsch.
Judge Simon sentenced Newlin to 78 months in prison followed
by 10 years of supervised release and ordered him to pay $18,000 in restitution
to his victims.
According to court documents, Newlin possessed 933 still
images and 82 videos of child pornography.
Investigators determined that, since 2007, Newlin had systematically
downloaded pornographic images from the internet. Many of the pornographic images showed
children under the age of 12 years old.
This case was investigated by the FBI/GRIT and prosecuted by
Assistant United States Attorney Alexandra McTague.
