SOUTH BEND – Demetrius Thomas, age 39, of Michigan City,
Indiana, was sentenced before United States District Court Judge Jon E.
DeGuilio upon his plea of guilty to 5 counts of Hobbs Act Robbery, announced U.
S. Attorney Thomas L. Kirsch II.
Thomas was sentenced to 71 months in prison followed by 2
years of supervised release.
According to documents in this case, from December 24, 2017
through January 1, 2018, Mr. Thomas conducted a series of 5 armed robberies in
South Bend, Mishawaka and St. Joseph County.
The robberies occurred at a drug store, a pizzeria and gas stations.
The case was investigated by the FBI and was prosecuted by
Assistant United States Attorney Joel R. Gabrielse.
