SYRACUSE, NEW YORK – Cody Childress, age 29, of Jamesville,
New York, was sentenced yesterday to 7 years in prison for possessing and
receiving child pornography.
The announcement was made by United States Attorney Grant C.
Jaquith and Charles Margiotta, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the Albany
Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
As part of his guilty plea, Childress admitted that he
received images of child pornography through a peer-to-peer, file-sharing
program. A search of Childress’s laptop computer revealed that he possessed 51
videos depicting child pornography.
Chief United States District Judge Glenn T. Suddaby also
imposed a 15-year term of supervised release, which will start after Childress
is released from prison. As a result of his conviction, Childress will be
required to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.
Childress’s case was investigated by the New York State
Police and the FBI. The case was
prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Geoffrey J. L. Brown.
