Visit JUSTNET to Download Police Vehicle Evaluation Model Year 2017 Report

The Justice Technology Information Center (JTIC) and the Michigan State Police (MSP) have released Police Vehicle Evaluation Model Year 2017, which publishes the results of an annual evaluation performed by MSP in partnership with JTIC and the National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center (NLECTC) System.

In the mid-1970s, MSP, as part of its annual vehicle procurement process, developed a program under which manufacturers wishing to be considered for selection submit their vehicles, equipped to MSP performance specifications, for testing. MSP evaluates factors such as acceleration, top speed, braking and handling under simulated pursuit conditions. MSP also evaluates and rates the vehicles for factors such as ergonomics and ease of equipment installation. The National Institute of Justice (NIJ), through the NLECTC System, began partnering with MSP in 1981.
