Burlington, VT - The U.S. Marshals Service Vermont Violent
Offender Task Force (VVOTF) arrested a Texas fugitive who was wanted for Aggravated
Assault.
Teresa Medeiros, 44, of Houston, Texas was arrested on
December 16, 2014 when confronted by the VVOTF. An arrest warrant was issued
for Medeiros on July 7, 2012 for failing to comply with the terms of her
probation, stemming from a 2010 conviction for assaulting a public servant,
causing bodily injury. The case was delegated to the U.S. Marshals Service,
District of Texas, Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force. During the course
of the investigation, information was developed that Medeiros was possibly
residing in Vermont.
Medeiros’ two years on the run ended when she was arrested
at a residence in Searsburg, Vermont by the VVOTF. Medeiros has a criminal
record that also includes a simple assault charge in NH and Domestic Assault
and Battery charge in MA.
Medeiros was lodged at the Southern State Correctional
Facility as a Fugitive from Justice and will be seen today, December 17, 2014
in Windham Criminal Court.
Medeiros’ arrest was a result of a culmination of
investigative efforts by the U.S. Marshals VVOTF, the Vermont State Police and
ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations.
