U.S. Marshals Arrest Violent Criminal in Sheldon

Burlington, VT - The U.S. Marshals Service Vermont Violent Offender Task Force (VVOTF) arrested a Vermont fugitive who was wanted for Escape from Custody-Furlough.

An arrest warrant was issued for Jason Ames, age 33, of St. Albans, on 10/31/14 for Escape from Custody-Furlough. He had underlying charges of Obstruction of Justice and Assault. The case was delegated to the USMS (VVOTF) by Vermont Probation and Parole to assist in the apprehension of Mr. Ames.

Ames was located at a residence in Sheldon by the USMS (VVOTF) on 12/12/14 and taken into custody without incident. Ames has an extensive criminal record in Vermont to include Aggravated Assault, Assault and Robbery, Burglary, Obstruction of Justice and Drug Possession.

Ames was lodged at the Northwest Regional Correction Center for lack of $10,000 bail.
