Covington, TN - Rodrick Walker, who allegedly participated
in a violent snatch and grab jewelry store robbery at Wolf Chase Mall earlier
this year is in custody tonight thanks to two U.S. Marshals Task Forces.
On January 18 five men with sledge hammers robbed Reed’s
Jewelry in Wolf Chase Mall right outside Memphis. Over sixty five watches worth
thousands of dollars were stolen. Four of the robbers are already in custody.
Investigators with the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional
Fugitive Task Force had been looking for the alleged final robber, Rodrick
Walker. The fugitive was traced to the Houston Texas area. Earlier today the
U.S. Marshals Violent Offender Task Force located Walker in an apartment
complex in the 13000 block of Hillcroft in Southwest Houston. Due to a lack of
compliance, entry was forced into the apartment where Walker was hiding and a
Police dog was used in his apprehension.
At the time of this press release Walker is in the Harris
County Jail, awaiting extradition.
The U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force is
a multi-agency task force with divisions in Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi and
Louisiana. The Western Tennessee Division of the GCRFTF has offices in Memphis
and Jackson, and its membership is primarily composed of Deputy U.S. Marshals,
Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies, Memphis Police Officers, Madison County
Sheriff’s Deputies, Jackson Police Officers, and the Tennessee Department of
Corrections Special Agents. The primary mission of the Task Force is to arrest
violent offenders and sexual predators.
