U.S. Marshals Arrest Alleged Rapist



Norfolk, VA – The United States Marshal for the Eastern District of Virginia, Robert W. Mathieson announces the capture of Edmond Ramjohn. Mr. Ramjohn was wanted out of Virginia Beach for Rape – Incapacitated Female and Rape – Incest with an Adult.

Investigators in Virginia Beach, along with U.S. Marshal Deputies in Norfolk, obtained information that Mr. Ramjohn had fled the Hampton Roads area and traveled to New York. Information was relayed to the New York/New Jersey Task Force about the possibility of Mr. Ramjohn being in the area. On March 4th2014, after many days of surveillance, Mr. Ramjohn was seen exiting an address in Brooklyn, NY. Deputies arrested Mr. Ramjohn without incident and transported him to the NYPD for processing, where he is awaiting extradition.

The U.S. Marshals led task force consists of law enforcement officers from the U.S. Marshals, Chesapeake Sheriff’s Department, Newport News Police Department, Portsmouth Police Department and Norfolk Police Department. The main objective of the task force is to seek out and arrest violent offenders with outstanding federal and state warrants.
