California Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested in Winston Salem, North Carolina by U.S. Marshals



Winston Salem, NC – This morning at 08:45am, Conner Douglas Burns, a 26 year old, White Male, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force (JFTF). Burns was wanted by the El Cajon Police Department (ECPD) in El Cajon, California for Armed Robbery and Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

On November 27, 2010, it is alleged that Burns robbed the Bottle Shop Liquor Store and fired a round into the ceiling during the robbery. Burns took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the business. Local investigators developed information placing Burns at an address near the business. While conducting a search of the address, investigators recovered the clothing and firearm that was used in the commission of the offense.

The U.S. Marshals Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force (PSWRFTF) discovered that an associate of Burns’ was living in the Winston Salem area. JFTF set up surveillance and observed Burns around a camper that was located on the property. Investigators surrounded the camper and arrested Burns without incident at 4812 Candlelight Drive. Burns was booked into the Forsyth County Detention Center and is being held without bond pending extradition to California.

The U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force for the Middle District of North Carolina is comprised of investigators from the U.S. Marshals Service, Chapel Hill Police Department, Durham Police Department, Greensboro Police Department, High Point Police Department, Winston Salem Police Department, Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, Orange County Sheriff’s Office, and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
