Pittsburgh, PA – Early this morning,
members of the U.S. Marshals Western PA Fugitive Task Force apprehended Shahid
Muslin, age 29, at the Greyhound Bus Station downtown, pursuant to an arrest
warrant out of Mecklenburg County, NC. Muslin, a Charlotte, NC resident, was
wanted for a First Degree Kidnapping which occurred on September 18, 2012. The
victim reportedly was kidnapped and tortured before being able to escape and
alert authorities.
Authorities in NC developed information
that Muslin had traveled through Maryland and was likely in the Harrisburg, PA
area. This information was relayed to the Pennsylvania State Police who later
confirmed Muslin had boarded a Greyhound bus headed for Pittsburgh.
Investigators with the Pennsylvania State Police notified the U.S. Marshals
Fugitive Task Force and Muslin was arrested without incident upon the arrival
of the bus shortly after midnight. Muslin was charged as a Fugitive from
Justice and held in the Allegheny County Jail awaiting extradition.
Members of the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force
involved in the arrest this morning consisted of officers from the Pennsylvania
State Police, State Parole Board, Westmoreland County Sheriff Department, City
of Pittsburgh Police and Deputy U.S. Marshals.
