WICHITA, KAN. – A Wichita man pleaded
guilty today to federal drug and firearms charges, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom
said.
Chico C. Davis, 34, Wichita, pleaded
guilty to eight counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, one count of
distributing crack cocaine and one count of distributing methamphetamine.
In his plea, Davis admitted he sold
firearms to undercover agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and
Explosives. He also sold crack cocaine and methamphetamine to the agents. At
that time, he was prohibited by federal law from possessing a firearm because
he had three prior felony convictions. The crimes occurred in May and June 2011
in Wichita.
Sentencing is set for Aug. 20. He faces
a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison and a fine to $250,000 on each
of the firearms counts, a maximum penalty of 20 years and a fine up to $1
million on the crack cocaine count and a penalty of not less than five years
and not more than 40 years and a fine up to $5 million on the methamphetamine
charge.
Grissom commended the ATF, the Wichita
Police Department and Assistant U.S. Attorney Debra Barnett for their work on
the case.
